Free Pencils?

The curatorial team met today to finalize the concepts, materials, and presentation for the Gallery Space. It’s an amazing group where ideas flow back and forth and things change quickly. While we ultimately decided to maintain our commitment to a minimal interface across the bottom floor of the Gallery (which will house the daily presentations and a “research center”), Ciara suggested that the upstairs (our “production center”) become more active, busy, and interactive in design. At one point, she also suggested that vistors might write on the upstairs walls to answer our 32 structuring prompts, lay out their videos responses, or simply interact with the show. And then I think Pato suggested that we could have pencils themselves stenciled with our 32 questions, which could become free giveaways.

Welcome to PerpiTube!

Pato and I decided to do our intro video for the show on Skype for several reasons:

  • Pato is so busy that he was only free late on a Wednesday night. I had to be home with the kids.
  • It reflects the most common space of our meetings, and those we had with our collaborators scattered across LA,  the US, and world.
  • It reminds us how new technology facilitates conversation and interaction.
  • It visualizes our separation.
